Bringing up memories of the past<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the summer of 2007, Minos Beach art hotel\u00a0hosted the exhibition “Agios Nikolaos – Landscapes and People from the 1960s”, of previously unpublished photographs by Dimitris Papadimos. An important cultural event, the exhibition provided both visitors from all over the world as well as the local community of Agios Nikolaos with a rare opportunity to discover and to remember key moments from the history of Agios Nikolaos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition, which was accompanied by an impressive homonymous publication, was possible due to the discovery of Dimitris Padadimos’ rich photographic archive by researcher Maria Sorou, at the Greek Literary and Historic Archive. The archive was rich in images and insight about a specific time period when Agios Nikolaos, a small, quiet country town, first began to open itself up to the outside world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors had the opportunity to travel back in time and get to know the small town, Minos Beach art hotel, and the locals in their daily activities, as well as snapshots from the making of the popular movie “Celui qui doit mourir”, directed by Jules Dassin and starring Melina Mercouri, which was based on the widely read book by Nikos Kazantzakis “Christ Recrucified.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
