We’re excited to invite you to the opening of the 2025 G&A Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize exhibition, taking place on Saturday, June 14 2025.

As every year, the Foundation issued an open call to artists from around the world and awarded the 2025 Art Prize to the proposal that stood out for its originality, innovation, and creative impact.

This year’s winner, artist Danae Stratou, presents Virtuous Spiral — an installation composed of 113 large ceramic vessels arranged in a spiral formation inspired by the enigmatic Phaistos Disc. Designed by the artist and handcrafted in the village of Thrapsano, Crete, the vessels transcend their utilitarian form, evoking the continuous movement of humanity through time and across the milestones of human history.

Danae Stratou is an internationally acclaimed visual artist, with studies at Central St. Martins in London. Her practice centers on large-scale installations and multimedia environments addressing sociopolitical and environmental issues. She has represented Greece at the Venice Biennale and exhibited widely across Europe, Australia, and the U.S., creating work that bridges natural materials with technology and engages deeply with the public sphere.
