Adela Matasova: Confrontation (1993)
«Confrontation» was created during the 3nd Art Symposium (1993), the theme of which was «Art in Politics»
The art collection of the G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation comprises more than 70 artworks, the majority of which are exhibited at the Sculpture Garden of Minos Beach art hotel, in Agios Nikolaos, Crete. A small number is exhibited at Life Gallery Athens hotel, while some have been removed for restoration purposes.
Most of the artworks were created during the three Art Symposia (1988-1993). Other works were added later, following successful exhibitions like The Riches of Cyprus (1996) and Chilean art travels to Crete (1999), among others. Finally, in the last few years, the Foundation has commissioned a series of site-specific installations from important contemporary artists, such as «4 Cents: On Show for 500 Years» by Georgia Kotretsos and «The Lost Ears of Agios Nikolaos» by Kostas Ioannidis. The three short art films (Full Circle, Hypno 29 and The Holy View) were screened during the Blue Nights series, which the Foundation inaugurated in 2019.
The collection is constantly growing, as every year, with the awarding of the annual Art Prize, it is enriched with the work of the winning artist.

«Minotaur» is one of the earliest artworks added to the Foundation’s collection, and has been on display at the Sculpture Garden since 1970
«Terpsis» was added to the Foundation’s collection in 1999

«Red Man» was added to the Foundation’s collection in 2004

The G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize 2022 was jointly awarded to artists Ileana Arnaoutou (1994) and Ismene King (1993) for their in situ sculptural installation Tender shell geophilia. The artwork was added to the Foundation’s art collection in 2022
