Residency 2022
Alexandros Psychoulis was born in Volos in 1966 and studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1986-93). His initial works were interactive installations, activated by the viewer’s participation, which explore his subconscious and decode his fears, desires or memories into images or sounds. The exploration of the landscape of digital reality is still central to his practice, which consists of installations in space, animation, and painting. In 1997 he was awarded the Benesse prize for his work ‘Black Box’ with which he participated in the 47th Venice Biennale. He has presented his work in 22 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 90 group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His research interests include the visual arts, observational arts, sketching as recording, and New Media art. He has held the position of Director of the ‘Post-Industrial Design’ Master’s Program (2017-2021).
