The artwork «Spiral» was created during the 3nd Art Symposium (1993), the theme of which was «Art in Politics»

In her work, Ingrid Fragantoni (born 1945) combines the conventional reality with the rich inner consciousness, but without blending the divine with the sacrilegious. “Spiral” (1993) includes powerful spiritual characteristics joined by an unprecedented purity, as embodied through the strict simplicity of the Cycladic white. The spiral is a sacred symbol to many different cultures. It depicts the wat from birth to death and vice versa and symbolises tome, evolution, and life itself. Entering the spiral structure is important for experiencing the piece, which mimics the shape of our galaxy. Thus, the artist created a profoundly spiritual work that links the terrestrial with the celestial and the human with the spiritual.
