THE ART COLLECTION

The G & A Mamidakis Foundation’s art collection comprises more than 80 artworks by Greek and international artists, primarily large-scale site-specific sculptural installations designed for both outdoor and indoor spaces. The works are on permanent display at the Sculpture Garden of Minos Beach Art Hotel and in various indoor and outdoor areas of Minos Palace Resort, with a small number exhibited at the Life Gallery Athens Hotel. A few artworks have been temporarily removed for maintenance or restoration.

Most of the works in the collection were created during three major Art Symposia, which brought together artists from around the world (1988–1993). Additional artworks joined the collection later through group and solo exhibitions, such as The Riches of Cyprus (1996) and Chilean Art Travels to Crete (1999). Other works in the collection are commissioned by the Foundation. The three video installations come from the video art series Blue Nights, launched by the Foundation in 2019.

The collection is constantly growing, as every year with the awarding of the annual Art Prize it is enriched with the works of the winning artists.
